El Sub-Surface Scattering (SSS) es un efecto que simula la luz que queda atrapada dentro de un material. Este efecto se da principalmente en materiales como la carne,objetos de goma, mármol o cera. No todos los materiales reflejan toda la luz, ya que parte de ella queda atrapada en su interior haciendo que queden iluminados internamente. Da un efecto muy realista y es muy fácil de configurar con el Standard Surface.
